The Kasbah Gate

Widely photographed since the early 20", the gate into Agadir Oufella appears on countless old postcards. These multiple snapshots, along with the evidence which survived the earthquake, the 1935 planimetric survey, and careful archaeological work on remaining buildings, were all harnessed to faithfully recreate this iconic gate.

The Kasbah Gate, restored to its pre-1960 glory, is an invitation to travel through time and to access this historical site while paying respect to the deceased. The lower section of the gate preserves the memory of the Saadian arches, while the upper section, bedecked with its characteristic merlons, recalls the imprint of the Alawi dynasty.
